Welcome to the Norton Percussion
Section...
a group, a family.

An important asset to the marching band as a whole, the drumline and front percussion members succeed in providing a
positive sound, attitude, and atmosphere towards the group. Working together in all that they do, the members consider themselves
family. Through heavy equipment, long practices, and grueling paces, the line and front percussion's drive is nothing short
of amazing...
"...we are the heart and soul of this band. We help to set the example for the other members, and
we work hard at what we do..."
"...we are family. we work together, and get so much accomplished..."
Adding to the large group of talented musicians, the percussion section stands for pride, class, and dignity, as well
as strength, strong will, and a love for playing no one could ever sum up into words...
The Norton percussion section is a group of active members of their community. They participate in fundraisers,
optional seasonal music performances, and several other events, and each year they set the example for youngsters at the Norton
Primary by performing for them, writing them letters, and signing a drum head for their keep. They also help each other on
the field. Lending a hand in "dot sheet" translation, or just giving out their piece of advice for anyone. The percussion
section is more than what meets the eye...

The Norton Music Department itself started 81 years ago, with just a simple orchestra. The band grew and continued to
raise the bar and work its magic for many years to come. Through a diverse 9 band directors, The Norton Band still
stands, plays, and marches strong.A major factor in the success of the band was former director Mr. Santelli. His dedication
to the marching band and the time he has given up has shown all of Norton what pride, class, and dignity truly means. With
his retirement in June of 2007, we welcomed Mr. Tom Chiera, our 9th director. With new leadership comes new direction
and new porgress. Mr. Chiera brings youth and current experience to our program. A sincere thank you goes out to Mr.
Chiera, the Band Staff, and all the band parents & patrons who support us.THANK YOU!!
